The focus will be on how AOC can help you with resin, gel coat and colorant needs throughout the world. As North America’s largest unsaturated resin supplier with 6 strategically located plants, AOC has the expertise and support staff to support your needs. In the United Kingdom, Composite Materials Supply (CMS) offers the full service capabilities expected by a composites distributor.
Marine
AOC is the inventor of DCPD resin technology that has become the standard of excellence within the marine industry. Leading boat manufacturers have relied on AOC’s Hydropel® high performance marine resin, and Altek®, general laminating resin for decades. AOC extends their technological expertise by providing new lower VOC resins to help meet increasing styrene emission restrictions, and HydroPro™ closed mold marine resins for boat builders as they benefit from intermediary processes. At the same time the superior blister resistance chemistry that made Hydropel® resin that boat builder’s preferred selection remain along with shop-friendly processing characteristics and unparalleled physical strength.
Automobile & Truck
AOC’s Atryl® Closed Mold Resin has been a staple with major automotive manufacturers for more than 20 years producing composite body panels such as hoods, fenders and tops. Atryl® closed mold resins makes it possible to treat body panels made of composites the same as steel in the paint shops, but with a reduced likelihood of aesthetic flaws. Atryl® is a more robust SMC resin that provides a 50 percent reduction in surface waviness (when compared to traditional SMC surfaces), a 69 percent increase in toughness (when compared to traditional SMC resins) and shows a minimum of 90 percent reduction in the formation of paint pops. This combination significantly resists micro-cracking and retains its crack-resistant characteristics after molding even along critical edge lines. This development will help automotive manufacturers select SMC as they design cars and trucks in the future.
Pultrusion
Pultruders who rely on AOC leadership and expertise are experiencing dramatically higher line speed, improved fiber wetting and higher filler loads. PulTru® resins from AOC help pultruders earn more money by providing the highest levels of color versatility, surface aesthetics and durable performance. PulTru® resins offer excellent working viscosities, even in proprietary low-styrene formulations.
Pipe & Underground Tank
AOC’s Vipel® corrosion resistant resin has endured the tests of decades of use throughout the universe. Vipel® resin is the primary ingredient for Owens Corning Pipe in Africa, Asia, Europe, South and North America. Insituform Technologies has used Vipel resins universally throughout their extensive network of underground pipe. The Vipel® line includes Isophthalic and Terephthalic polyester resins plus Vinyl Ester Bisphenol-A Epoxy and Epoxy Novolac specialties. Vipel® technologies are designed to withstand corrosive attack from chemicals, moisture, thermal cycles and fatigue-stress. Special grades offer the benefit of flame-retardant technology.
Sewer Rehabilitation
Around the world, cured-in-place-pipe (CIPP) technology is giving new life to underground pipelines in need of repair. By eliminating the need to dig trenches, CIPP lowers costs, is completed faster, and has minimal or no effect on traffic, the environment and civil infrastructure. To ensure that new pipe liners will stand the test of time, more trenchless technology providers are turning to Vipel® CIPP resins from AOC.
AOC helped pioneer the development of isophthalic polyester resin technology in the 1970s and sets the standard for CIPP rehabilitation. For applications involving more aggressive media and requiring higher properties, AOC offers vinyl ester resin chemistries.
